TAMU Link 2030: connection and innovation in education, research, and practice

This project was ranked second in a competition on envisioning the future of Texas A&M University for the year 2030. Below is a description of the proposed vision after an analysis of the existing condition and the needs of the university, which should be addressed in the future (Teammates: M. Azimi and H. Pesarakli).

“The intention of Texas A&M University is to lead innovation and creativity globally as a public, higher education, research institute by “linking” its glorious past to a preeminent future in moving forward through sustainably high qualities of educational, environmental, cultural, and social importance/value. Texas A&M University will bring together the industry, academia, and the community from all races and geographies through remote and onsite “links” to benefit everyone from the application of its education/research knowledge. Towards this end, Texas A&M university will pursue the following objectives:

  • Promote physical/nonphysical links through online education (e.g. ICT) and new modes of transportation (e.g. hybrid and hyper-loop networks) on local, national, and international scales for connection to other TAMU system institutions, world-class research institutions, and beyond

  • Provide valuable external collaboration opportunities by accommodating innovation economy companies and industrial institutions onsite

  • Accommodate the physical/nonphysical requirements of interdisciplinary/transdisciplinary departmental links for internal research/education collaborations

  • Promote sustainability through smart/green technologies to conserve natural resources and to reach higher environmental performance by pursuing the concepts of low energy, net zero, and net positive step-by-step until 2030

  • Promote the sense of place/belonging by participating and linking the local/global community to the tasks and needs of the TAMU Link 2030”
