Conceptual CubE: Exploring the Notions of Form, Space, and Materilaity

It all starts with a cubic form…

Focused on a rectangular cubic form, students explore some of the features of a 3D geometry in a step-by-step process: 1. Definition/design of the boundaries of the form and its components such as vertices, edges, and planes; 2. Inside Out thinking about the cube instead of perceiving the form from outside inward would define it from inside toward outside with the use of planar elements; 3. Expansion of the cubic form or part of it to find a new form that may still recognize the memory of the original form; 4. Adding the aesthetics of materiality/color 5. Developing the form to a functionally aesthetic object

Expanded cubic form combining different materials and movements in space at the end turns into an expandable shelf as the last step of the project.
